St. Monica is officially twinned to a parish in Hinche, Haiti – Paroisse du Sacre Coeur, (Church of the Sacred Heart.) The effort is called our Twinning Mission. We support Sacre Coeur in meeting its practical day-to-day financial needs by our stewardship of Treasure. Monsignor Louis Faublas has guided the parish of Sacre Coeur in Hinche by faith. He conducts a full mass schedule including weekly masses, holy day masses and special celebrations. All of the sacraments are continually administered. The parish also offers religious education, a men’s club, a teen group and special retreats.
The Church is enclosed in a compound containing the rectory, a water treatment system, St. Monica Refectory, and the Whitney Medical Clinic. The town of Hinche is located deep in the central Plateau of Haiti. Since 2017 violence and the threat of kidnapping has made access through the back roads to the clinic unsafe. Our executive board closely partners and monitors the medical clinic with the hope that soon the missions will begin again. At present we employ two Haitian Physicians, a nurse and full clinic staff. Medications are dispensed through the clinic pharmacy. All of these activities are monitored by our US Pharmacist, Physician and Nurse Practitioner.
The Parish of Sacre Coeur with the clinic and the entire compound is supported by the Catholic Church of St. Monica, Duluth, GA, and your donations. We believe that Christ calls us to share our gifts with less fortunate fellow Catholics, and evangelize to the community of Hinche.
